Deep River Farms
Artist in Residence:
Kelly Milukas

Enjoy the Creative Painting Access to the 60-acre Deep River Farms, a local organic farm dedicated to bringing the “farm to family” way of life to our community. Experience the fellowship of a live plein air workshop weekend at the farm and breathe in the fresh outdoor air this summer as you paint. Each student will be encouraged to create a body of work through a mixture of expressive paint exercises, journaling, and longer plein air sessions. Easy to moderate walks exploring the lush, verdant farmland, water, barns and farm animals at Deep River Farm provides the inspiration for which to develop ideas for series-based work while also developing your personal artistic voice.

Kelly will teach the workshop through paint and mark making demonstrations to depict the spirit and essence of the land, personal at easel mentoring, and a closing group review. Optional individual review will be offered.

Discover Amazing Local Wildlife

The possibilities are endless! Insects, turtles, fish, snakes, frogs, worms and so much more!

Come join Farmer Todd, a middle school science teacher and nature lover, to discover some of the many organisms found in our area. As we walk around the farm catching, viewing, and releasing creatures, we will learn about their habitats. Each participant will get (and keep) their own bug net and container to use during our living scavenger hunt. Hopefully, everyone will find something they have never seen before! Wear insect repellent, comfortable shoes that may get a little dirty, and bring a camera to capture close ups of your discoveries. A few magnifying glasses will be on hand, but feel free to bring your own. Please wear a mask while we are closer together or stay at least 6' apart from non-family members; you may take it off once we spread out to hunt for living treasures. All this and a delicious FRMsicle!
